How does Home Checkout service Work?

It is as simple as 1…2…3. 1) Make out a list of the groceries that you need. 2) Contact a Home Checkout customer service representative at 330-784-2400 and place your order over the phone. Fax orders may be sent to 330-784-8461. To receive same day delivery phone or fax orders must be received by 12:00 noon Monday thru Friday. 3) Go about your day as you normally would. A customer service representative will contact you by phone once your order is complete to get the necessary payment and delivery information from you.

Is the quality of the food I order through Home Checkout comparable to what I would purchase at my local grocery store?

We offer you the freedom to choose which local store you wish your order to be shopped. Therefore the quality of the products and food you order through Home Checkout is the same as what you would find in your local store. Meat, produce and other fresh foods will be hand selected by the Designated Shoppers. Particular attention is paid to quality, freshness and expiration dates.

Why is there a lower service fee for certain stores in the area?

Home Checkout offers our customers the widest selection of stores for which we will shop and deliver. Just like Home Checkout, some stores strive to bring the best service at the right price for all their customers. The stores with the lower service fee have teamed up with Home Checkout to lower the cost of delivery to their customers. We call these team stores Participating or Sponsor stores. We appreciate their commitment and support to the community for which they serve.

*Note: If a store that you would like us to shop is not listed as a Participating or Sponsor store contact and let them know the value of our service and how it could benefit you. Our goal at Home Checkout is to bring an efficient and affordable delivery service to everyone in the community. We do this on our own and through sponsor stores who share the same commitment to customer service and the community.

The following lists are the stores that Home Checkout offers its service too. The list of Sponsor Stores will be expanding as more corporate offices recognize the need in the community and the value Home Checkout brings to their store through great customer service.

What does Home Checkout charge for its service?

There are two categories of stores that Home Checkout offers its service. Sponsor stores are those stores who have recognized the need in the community and have teamed up with Home Checkout to lower the total cost of the service to their customers. The service fee for stores that team up with Home Checkout is as follows;

    IGA - Ellet
    Orders up to $80.00 = $8.00 fee
    Orders $81.00 – 150.00 = 10% of the grocery bill
    Orders $151.00 and up = $15.00 fee

    Giant Eagle
    Orders up to $80.00 = $8.00 fee
    Orders $81.00 – 150.00 = $12.00 fee
    Orders $150.00 and up = $15.00 fee
    Floral Delivery $10.00 fee

Home Checkout values choice for its customers. With this in mind we also offer our service to stores that have not teamed up with Home Checkout with the following service fees;

    Orders up to $100.00 = $20.00 fee
    Orders $101.00 and up = 20% of the grocery bill

How do I pay for my order?

Payment for the grocery order and service fee is handled differently for sponsor vs. non-sponsor stores. Please be advised that for all orders a correct contact phone number is essential for the transaction to be completed.

Sponsor Store Payment: An employee of the Sponsor store’s Home Checkout department will contact you once the order is completed. They will inform you of the grocery order and service fee’s total cost. They will ask for your credit/debit card number and expiration date of the card. The payment of the order and service fee is then processed together electronically over the phone.

Non-Sponsor Store Payment: An employee of Home Checkout will contact you once the order is completed. They will inform you of the grocery order and service fee’s total cost. We do not accept credit/debit card payments for non-sponsor store payment. Only cash or check is accepted for non-sponsor store payment.

May I use coupons?

At this time we do not have the ability to utilize coupons. We are working with the stores to allow coupons in the future. Home Checkout does pass through any savings from store advantage or savings cards. If you have an advantage or savings card simply notify the customer service representative or fill in the appropriate box on the web order form when you place your order.

Does Home Checkout offer prescription and pharmaceutical shopping and deliveries?

Yes, Home Checkout provides the added benefit of free prescription and pharmaceutical shopping and delivery from Klein's Pharmacy and Ritzman Pharmacy. Delivery arrangements must be made by contacting Home Checkout directly at 330-784-2400.

How specific should I be with my selections when ordering my groceries?

There are thousands of grocery items available in every store. Home Checkout and our Designated Shoppers wish to provide you with the best possible service available. With this in mind we have developed a very simple yet informative grocery order form. The more specific you are in helping us complete the form the better this aids us in knowing exactly which products you wish to receive.

Can I have substitutions for products that are out of stock?

Yes, however, any substitutions for specific products should be noted on the web order form or communicated to the phone representative at the time the order is placed. If an item is out of stock and no substitution has been listed or requested, then the item will simply be marked “out of stock”.

Does Home Checkout offer purchases of alcohol, tobacco and lottery games?

Home Checkout does not offer purchase of alcohol, tobacco or lottery games at this time.

Can I order frozen foods for delivery?

Home Checkout utilizes climate controlled delivery vehicles to keep your frozen foods frozen.

What is the delivery area for Home Checkout?

Home Checkout is currently providing its designated shopping and delivery service to the City of Akron and surrounding communities. As the company expands we will continue to add to the current service area. For updated service area information or special requests for service outside of the current area please contact us at 330-784-2400.

What is Home Checkout’s policy regarding refunds, returns and exchanges?

Home Checkout works hard to accurately shop and deliver the items you ask for through your order. If we make a mistake with the order we will gladly correct the problem by delivering the correct product to you. Every customer will receive the original cash register receipt along with their grocery order form. If the order was shopped correctly however the customer decides they do not want a specific item the customer will be advised how to return the item to the store using the original receipt.
